Dear everyone,
On Friday, November 13,the last day of the National Week of Dialogue, Paris and the rest of the world was alarmed again by attacks. Thursday January 7, 2016 is one year after the editors of Charlie Hebdo in the same city became victims of violence.
Therefore The Netherlands in Dialogue is organizing an extra Day of Dialogue on January 7th. The theme will be: Freedom.
Freedom of expression, Freedom to be and to become who you are. Freedom to feel allowed to express your own convictions. Freedom to take your place in society. We all have a story that is worthy of being told. Something that goes without saying for you, could be hard to understand for me.
In such cases we could choose to judge or to turn away from each other. But we could also ask “How is this for you? What does it do to you? What does this mean to you?”
In this way we experience the wealth of the diversity in our town.
When we manage to listen to each other with respect and share with one another, then beautiful, lasting connections can develop.
For conflict is the ultimate consequence of people no longer talking to each other.
